Museum Amstelkring makes it in Amsterdam's top 10 most visited
sights as one of the most popular museums here. Visitors often
say Amstelkring offers an unique state of spirit due to its
valuable content and historical location.
Museum Amstelkring is a canal-side house, right on the edge
of the Red Light District and maintains a historical Dutch
emotional charge, as it evokes the glorious maritime past
of the Netherlands. The bourgeois building was metamorphosed
into a museum in 1888 when guests could visit the lower floors
of the place. Amstelkring has a mystery note given by the
hidden catholic church in the attic.
Inside, besides the wonderful architecture of the 17th century
and the refurbished rooms now available on the lower floors,
visitors have the chance to admire remarkable pieces of church
silvery, paintings, typical Dutch furnishing, two kitchens
having Delft tiles, table clocks, religious items and various
other valuable artifacts.
If you want to take a guided tour, you must have an at least
one week previous reservation done and be ready to take out
of your pocket minimum €32,00 and spend around one hour
of your visiting time. The group has 25 members tops.
Museum Amstelkring is closed on New Year's Day and on Queen's
