Most of the customers visiting The Grasshopper are tourists.
They find it much more charming to feel the sun on their
skin while enjoying a good joint on the terrace than crowd
in a cramped coffeeshop with obscure atmosphere. Besides,
each place if the Grasshopper is meant to provide all weather
seating. The location of the coffeeshop is actually a three
level building housing the coffeeshop in the basement, a
bar and a restaurant. Prices, however, are meant especially
for tourists, so you may find them a bit exaggerated. It
is worth a try, though!
If you are planning to use the toilette, keep in mind that
this is one of the few locations in Amsterdam where you
actually have to buy to visit the ladies'/ men's room. Undoubtedly,
the Grasshopper is one of the most popular so called "commercial"
coffeeshops in Amsterdam.
Grasshopper is open Sundays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to
1 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
