A grandiouse building housing some of the most valuable
cultural pieces of all times, the Rijksmuseum, presents
the spiritual life of the Golden Age with all its charm
and glamour. Gathering over 400 masterpieces under the same
title (The Masterpieces) dating back in the 17th century,
the Rijksmuseum remains a tourist phenomenon, appealing
to more than 1 million international visitors yearly.
The impressive collection The Masterpieces are located
in the Philips wing, the pride and joy of the museum, including
the outstanding doll's houses, the most exquisite Delftware,
precious silverware, icons representing fragments of the
Dutch history, unique civic company pieces and, as expected,
the works of art of the talented and renowned Jan Steen,
Vermeer, Frans Hals and, of course, Rembrandt. Rijksmuseum,
the main building to be more precise, is the home of the
world famous Night Watch, Rembrandts' outstanding accomplishment.
Rijksmuseum not only serves as the location of such priceless
cultural inheritance, but it also fulfills an educational
role, working as a stimulator of knowledge and talent for
young artists and individuals interested in art.
The personal employed in Rijksmuseum reaches impressive
numbers. Officials are so concerned in the museum's perfect
conservation, that enormous funds are approved yearly for
its costs. 45 persons manage the cleaning of the museum,
each of them specialized in a particular area of the building.
Over 400 persons take care of different other aspects related
to the museum's administration.
Rijksmuseum can be daily visited from 10am to 5pm, entering
from Stadhouderskade 42.
