Schiphol Airport
Holland
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a miniature city, with all
the facilities and entertainment modern life can offer.
The smaller replica of liberal Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport
is the place to have a good meal, enjoy a comfortable and
refined place to chat and have a drink, do some shopping
or try your luck in the casino. People going up and down,
aircrafts landing and taking off can turn into a fine way
to relax until your flight is due to arrive. Schiphol Airport
is thought to summarize some of Amsterdam's essentials.
The Palace - Lounge 1
The Palace houses the elegant and refined Grand Café
and the popular and cheerful Mediterranean Sandwich Bar
in a genuine historical style influenced by Dutch and British
culture. The Palace is found in the Departure Lounge 1.
Its modern updates and the round-the-clock schedule of the
Sandwich Bar make it one of the most inviting and relaxing
locations. Bright, spacious and, yet, very comfortable,
The Palace is the center point of the lounge 1.
Rijksmuseum - Holland Boulevard
Schiphol Airport is a place for art admirers, as well. Rijksmuseum
Amsterdam Schiphol is, believe it or not, a real museum
build within an airport. You can find it on Holland Boulevard,
between piers E and F and enjoy the works of great art masters
like Rembrandt or Vermeer. Not only Dutch Golden Age representatives,
but also contemporary art creators are displayed for the
public eye. A museum shop is available for those interested
in acquiring art pieces. Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol
doesn't charge admission fees.
Holland Gift Shops - Lounge 1, 2 and 3
Souvenirs, clogs and delftware and many more Dutch authentic
gifts are to be found in the diverse range of gift shops
available in the Departure Lounges 1, 2 and 3. You can buy
them for yourself as a proof of Amsterdam's charm or give
it away as a sign of appreciation to someone dear. Either
way, you can't miss taking something of the Netherlands
back home with you.
Holland Tours Schiphl - Holland Boulevard
Why spend the hours simply waiting for your plane to take
off, when you can spend the time taking a tour from Schiphol
Plaza or Holland Boulevard. The generic length of the tour
is 2 ½ hours and includes visiting Amsterdam canals,
a Delft porcelain factory and the colorful Keukenhof with
its charming tulips in April and May. The tours are organized
by Holland Tours and meant to synthesize national symbols
of The Netherlands.
