Van Gogh Museum gathers over 200 paintings, 500 drawings
and 700 letters belonging and made by Vincent Van Gogh,
one of the most controversial figures in world art of
all times. Visiting Van Gogh Museum will, undoubtedly,
give you the feeling of taking a close insight into the
artist's most intimate thoughts and sentiments. Not only
a spiritually charged visit, but also an educational one,
as the works are organized chronologically, respecting
the order of the artist's five periods of creation: The
Netherlands, Paris, Arles, Saint-Remy and Auvers-sur-Oise,
each of them bearing a different meaning and a different
state of mind, but all equally valuable and worth of being
seen.
Besides the priceless world's largest Van Gogh's art collection,
The Van Gogh Museum is also the home of multiple range
of exhibitions related to the art of the 19th century
in the wing backing on to the Museumplein. Guests can,
thus, admire and enjoy the outstanding talent of a consecrated
artists and come in contact with new rising figures in
our days, in the same time.
Location: Van Gogh Museum is located between the Rijksmuseum
and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam's Museum Quarter. Visitors
coming from Central Station can reach the museum with
tram 2 or tram 5. The entrance is possible at the Paulus
Potterstraat 7 and has the necessary adjustments to facilitate
the access of disabled guests.
The Van Gogh Museum can be daily visited from 10a.m.
to 6p.m., except from the New Year's Day, when it is closed.
