I know that in Amsterdam they use EURO but should I buy them in US or there? What about travelers checks, Visa or MasterCard?

From what i read you don't need to obtain a Visa unless you intend to stay longer than 6 months. In many of the books I've read it says that travellers checks are good to use and if you lose them you can simply cancel them (so no money lost). I have never used them before though just sharing what I've read. And I too would like to know if it's better to exchange money before you go or when you get there

"I too would like to know if it's better to exchange money before you go or when you get there" - very good question. I think that you should check out the exchange course in your country and the one in Amsterdam and make a comparison.

  4. It is better to use your credit card or ATM with Visa/MC logo. Be sure you have a four digit pin number. Buy Euro at home, just enough to pay for things you can use your car to pay for - tram tickets, snacks, taxi, etc. Don't bother with traveler's checks if you have a card. Just keep your card safe. Take phone numbers to reach organizations just in case you lose a card.
