What do you know about exchange money in Amsterdam? I know that in big tourists cities the conversion rates are lousy and if you use your card at ATMs you get higher fees.

Using your ATM with a MC or Visa logo is actually cheaper. I exchange an amount that seems appropriate for things I can't use my card to pay for; taxis, snacks, trams. Then I use my card. It really is better, especially with the weak dollar. It's usually best to change money at home, rather than there.
