Melkweg
This is one of Amsterdam's most hip nightclubs located
on Lijbaansracht Street 234. Melkweg is known especially
for the live performances it hosts gathering a large and
mostly young public regularly. Saturdays, in particular,
guests can choose to party in the Dance Arena or in the
Pop Arena, accommodated in two different rooms of the
club. Music and party lovers are always attracted to Melkweg
by the club's fidelity in matching global trends. Tradition
is also important in this club. Melkweg is, perhaps, one
of the few nightclubs still caring for the Cannabis Cup
every November. Melkweg can also be rented out and host
the event of your lifetime. This usually happens on Fridays.
The club opens every Friday and Saturday from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m. Guests must pay an entrance of €4, 50 for
the Dance Arena and a compulsory membership of €2.
Power Zone
Power Zone is atypical from several points of view. First
of all, it is a nightclub of generous dimensions, hosting
more than 5000 guests if necessary. Secondly, its location
is not central, but in the vecinity of Amstel station
in an industrial area. Furthermore, Power Zone continues
the chain of differences with other Amsterdamer clubs
in that it lacks a door policy, which gives the club a
plus of popularity. Indoors, tipping is not allowed, either.
Decorations are based particularly on the variety of shapes,
most of hem round and oval, making Power Zone original
and cozy at the same time. The dance floor is very large
reminding people they came here to dance. Guests looking
for a chill out session can always step into the lounge
area called sugestively, Comfort Zone.
Power Zone opens every Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m.
to 5 a.m. and includes a cover of €12.
Chemistry/ Escape
The nightclub located in Rembrandtplein has two names
because it is actually the metamorphossis of a theater,
The Escape, into a large nightclubs of over 2,000 guest
capacity, Chemistry. Chemistry is very popular in Amsterdam
not onoly due to its generous space, but also due to the
unique events organized here. Most reputed DJ's of the
moment and other famous artists coming from abroad perform
in the Chemistry frequently. The club has also been famous
for its strict entrance criteria for a long time. However,
this seems to have changed into a more permissive door
policy, allowing the club to become more accesible. Chemistry
can also be the place you clebrate your birthday or any
other major event in your life, if you choose to rent
it. Chemistry opens Thursdays to Sundays from 11 p.m.
to 5 a.m. and taxes an admission fee of €12 to €20.
Back Door
This club changed its name from the Soul Kitchen, a very
popular old music club on Amstelstraat 32. Things haven't
changed too much indoors: the golden music of the 60s
and the 70s, cozy parties, attractive decorations. Guests
are easily allowed in. Most played music is funk, disco
and soul. Back Door succesfully creates the retro atmosphere
and guarantees a good time.
Dansen Bij Jansen
The club is located on Handboogstraat and is desiganted
to all students in Amsterdam. The only restriction at
the club's entrance is the valid paper proving the guest
is a student. The club doesn't impose a dressing style
or other restricting criteria. Dansen Bij Jansen plays
disco, pop and haouse music more often than not and tries
to maintain a relaxed, yet dynamic atmosphere. The club
is build on two levels: upstairs, guests can hang out
at the bar and have a drink and a chat, while downstairs
the dance floor awaits the party people. Dansen Bij Jansen
or, simply, Jansen, also has a happy hour serving regim
between 11 p.m. and midnight.
Mazzo
Mazzo is located on Rozengracht 114 and has a strong tradition
in Amsterdam, as one of the city's oldest nightclubs.
Mazzo has become a name in Amsterdam thanks to the unbelievable
promptitude of adjusting to world's newest musical trends.
In addition, Mazzo is also famous for the original video
experiments and always cozy atmosphere indoors. Mazzo's
public is generally made of 23 to 30 year old people,
as the club has a 23+ age restriction door policy.
Mazzo opens Thursdays to Sundays from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
and charges and admission fee of €5 to €10.
