> Getting from the Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam
Schiphol
International Airport is a modern and functional single
terminal airport with six arrival and departure sections
divided on the ground and first floor. Considered by most
visitors the easiest way to reach the core of the city,
trains can be taken right from below the Schiphol Plaza
for only €3.10 per journey. The train reaches Amsterdam
Central Station in a few minutes, where from everything
is within walking distance. The frequency of the trains
goes around 10 minutes and visitors may choose between two
train platforms.
Another option to get from the Schiphol Airport to the city
centre may be the famous airport shuttles. Even though more
expensive than train transportation, airport shuttles charge
between €11 and €17.50 to drop visitors right
in front of the hotel where they made a reservation. The
shuttle service is managed by Connexxion and set a 10 minute
distance between shuttles.
In style transportation is also available to get from Schiphol
Airport to any hotel or sight in Amsterdam. Services include
taxis
and limousines booking in advance. Guests can be picked
up from the airport by the designated driver holding a plate
with the guest's name. Thus, parking and finding the right
way to the hotel is no longer troublesome. Limousine and
taxi services are offered in association with Dutch Business
Limousine Company and charges start at €35. Taxi services
include, as well, transportation anywhere else in Holland,
not only Amsterdam, with different costs, of course.
For destinations outside Amsterdam guests can also choose
to travel by bus. Costs are considerably lower considering
the distance.
For visitors who prefer to rent
a car in Amsterdam, there are six reputed car rental
services to choose from in Schiphol International Airport:
Budget Rent-a-Car, Avis, National Alamo
Rent-a-Car, Europcar Autoverkhuur, Sixt
Rent-a-Car and Herzt Automobielen Nederland.
Visitors can rent a car when arriving in Amsterdam at the
Schiphol Plaza from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. or in advance
filling in an online form.
When deciding on which means of transportation to use,
visitors should take into consideration parking facilities.
At the airport, for instance, there are two parking lots
accommodated for shortterm use and another one for longterm
parking. Costs, however, may reach even €22, 50 for
a 24 hour- period or more than €45 for more than three
days in a row.
