Visitors in Amsterdam who decide upon the metro will be,
perhaps, surprised to see that the tube, as it is also called,
isn't a classic, bellow the earth one. The metro in Amsterdam
has both underground and surface routes. Moreover, most
metro routes are, actually, on the surface, except the 3.5
km route between Central Station and Amstel. However, metro
services are used mainly by those trying to reach the periphery
of the city. Metro is also indicated for visitors heading
to the Amsterdam Arena.
