Some visitors may want to experience Amsterdam at the wheel
of a rent car, even though this may turn out more annoying
and tiresome than walking. Inside the city, traffic is almost
impossible to endure. Amsterdam surroundings, on the other
hand, are a good driving destination.
Starting with Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam hosts many reputed
car rental agencies such as Alamo, Budget, Europcar etc.
Another important car rental nod is near Vondelpark in the
Amsterdam centre.
Irregardless of the car rental service chosen, customers
must meet some compulsory conditions to rent a car. First
of all, drivers must be overage (that is at least 21 years
old) and licensed to drive in their own country of residence.
If they are tourists, the passport is also needed. More
particular rules include one year driving experience and
a certain money deposit until returning the car. Although
Amsterdam is the home of many international car rental agencies,
visitors are indicate to check out charges at both local
and foreign representatives, in order to find the most advantageous
price. Informally, this belongs to Dutch agencies.
Authorities warn, however, that the apparent comfort of
driving your own car in an unknown city may become impossible
to stand in Amsterdam, where parking and traffic are real
social issues. In other words, tourists are recommended
to think twice before renting a car.
Most important car rental agencies present in Amsterdam
are: Adams Rent a Car, Avis Car Rental, Budget Rent a Car,
Diks Autoverhuur, Europcar, Safety Rent-a-Car, Hertz and
Kuperus Autoverhuur BV.
